Getting Started + Waitlist

  • You can begin by completing our consultation request form, which is also currently our Waitlist form. From there, our team will review your needs and follow up with next steps for matching and scheduling.

    Get Started

  • The waitlist is the first step to starting therapy with us. You’ll share what you’re coming in for, and we’ll reach out to schedule consultations as soon as openings become available in March.

    Get Started

  • Our first therapy openings will be available in March. We will reach out to waitlisted clients first as spots open.

    Get Started

  • You can expect to hear from us in mid to late February to schedule a consultation with our therapists, who will begin seeing clients in March.

    Get Started

  • Start by filling out the waitlist form. When therapists become available, we’ll reach out to schedule a free consultation. After your consultation call, you can book your first therapy session if it feels like a good fit.

  • All Our Kind therapists are highly trained, carefully vetted, and selected for their skill, effectiveness, and use of experiential modalities central to the Our Kind Method. When therapists are available, you’ll receive clear information about each clinician—including their bio, approach, and areas of focus—so you can make an informed choice. You’ll also have the option to book a free consultation directly with the therapist before starting therapy.

Our Method + Specializations

  • Our Kind Therapy is focused on getting you to feel your best as fast as possible. Our work is rooted in attachment-based, experiential, and relational work. We focus on emotional safety, nervous system regulation, and real-time patterns rather than surface-level symptom management.

  • We offer individual, couples, and career therapy. We specialize in general Mental Health Disorders, Relationships & Intimacy, Cultural & Family Dynamics, and Entrepreneurship & Career.

Our therapists hold multiple certifications spanning various approaches such as attachment-based therapy, AEDP, ISTDP, EMDR, somatic therapy, IFS, narrative therapy, and relationship-focused therapy.

  • Experiential therapy slows down your story to be witnessed and rewritten. It helps your body release emotional patterns by working directly with your subconscious mind and nervous system. By moving beyond transactional care, experiential therapy helps you restore genuine connection, release fears held in the body, and awaken a sense of inspired aliveness in you.

Services + Logistics

  • Your first session is focused on connection and clarity. You’ll begin building trust with your therapist, offload what you’ve been holding in, and leave with a felt sense of support and an emerging direction for your work together.

  • Yes. We work with individuals, and couples, including partners navigating relationship challenges, life transitions, cultural dynamics, or emotional disconnection.

  • We currently offer virtual sessions to clients in New York State, and will be expanding to in-person sessions in New York soon.

  • Sessions are between 50-75 minutes, depending on which type of session you have chosen with your therapist.  Most clients typically meet for 50-55 minute sessions. We encourage weekly sessions for the first 4 months (minimum), though frequency can vary depending on your goals, capacity, and phase of therapy.

  • We work with clients across New York City and offer virtual therapy throughout New York State.

  • You must be physically located in New York State for therapy sessions due to licensing regulations. Virtual sessions are available within New York.

  • We require advance 48-hour notice for cancellations or rescheduling.  Please notify your therapist via email 48-hours prior to your booked session. Your therapist will always try to accommodate a reschedule for the same week, if they have the availability. For cancellations and reschedules with less than 48-hours notice, you will be charged the full rate of your session and a rescheduled session would count as a ‘new additionally’ session for the week.

  • Length of therapy varies widely. We offer 16-20 week intensives, as well as on-going support for deeper work. Let your therapist know how you’re feeling about the timeline for therapy, and you two can strategize together on your treatment plan.

  • You’ll know you’re making progress when your reactions start to change outside of sessions, not because you’re trying, but because something inside you is different. Early progress feels like more clarity, less internal friction, and a growing sense that you can trust your own responses, even before everything is “resolved.”

  • At Our Kind Therapy we help clients create meaningful change in their lives. If you’re ready to invest your time and energy in moving things forward, we’re ready for you. Reminder: you don’t need to be in crisis or have a clear goal to begin. We co-create progress in sessions.

Cost + Insurance

  • Session fees vary by therapist and service type with minimum cost of session beginning at $200. Exact rates for a specific therapist are shared on the therapist’s bio page as well as during your consultation with them, and before scheduling begins.

Sliding scale is offered for clients in need. This can be discussed during the consultation.

  • We are an out-of-network practice and do not accept insurance directly. We provide services to help clients submit for out-of-network- insurance reimbursement.  Check your reimbursement rate here

Sliding scale availability is limited and based on need.

  • You may be able to use out-of-network benefits if your insurance plan includes them. This allows for partial reimbursement.

  • We provide monthly superbills that you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement, if eligible. We can also file these superbills on your behalf for an additional charge. You may speak with your therapist about this during your consultation.

  • Yes. Sessions are paid at the time of service. Insurance reimbursement, if applicable, happens after payment (it typically takes one to two months to be reimbursed from insurance)

  •  We only share what is required for reimbursement, typically diagnosis and service codes. We do not communicate directly with insurance companies.
